Contact - Malorie Blackman - Whole Class Reading Session!
This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s comprehension of the opening chapter of Malorie Blackman’s ‘Contact.’
It contains a link to the online chapter (on the first slide) and a PDF version if needed. This is followed by a series of activities aiming to develop children’s retrieval, explanation, inference, prediction and summarising skills. It also contains a vocabulary check immediately after the extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language.
The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities.
The session is best suited for children in years 2-4, although with minor adaptations it could feasibly be used with slightly younger and older year groups.

This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s fluency and comprehension skills through reading Julia Donaldson’s ‘The Paper Dolls.’

RE - Special Ways of Living - Buddhist Monks and Nuns!
In this engaging lesson, students are introduced to how Buddhist monks and nuns live their lives. They consider the sacrifices that these people make and the reasons behind their choices.
The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey:
-Recalling their prior learning about how Christians and Buddhists live;
-Reflecting upon an image of monks and considering what they can infer about them/ their lives;
-Learn key facts about monks and nuns, through key facts on the slideshow and engagement with a hyperlinked video that leads them through a day in the life of a Buddhist monk;
-Considering the qualities and skills that Buddhist monks and nuns need to show, and considering how they would feel/think if they were in a similar position;
-Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objectives.

In this engaging lesson, students are introduced to how Muslims pray. They consider the rituals that these people follow and the reasons behind their processes.

Based on the popular game show ‘Pointless,’ this resource is perfect for use as a whole lesson resource, enrichment option, or revision tool. Editable, so that you can change to any other topic or change questions. (I’ve also added a blank template so that you can make your own games from scratch). Containing 24 slides of sound clips, engaging visuals, and suitably challenging questions, this resource is effective at both promoting engagement and enhancing learning. There are several full rounds of questions to build or revisit knowledge of Romans.

Jargon Hunt - KS2 Bundle! (English, Maths, & Science) Building Literacy through Riddles & Teamwork!
Welcome to Jargon Hunt! These engaging and exciting activities are perfect for building students' literacy skills; helping them to understand key English, Maths, and Science vocabulary through cryptic rhyming riddles and teamwork.
Once the game is introduced and the rules are shared (on the presentation) students are given a riddle card and an answer card. The only catch is that their answer card does not match their riddle! Through reading their riddle to others, and allowing others to read their riddles to them, students learn the English, Maths, and Science vocabulary as prescribed for teaching at KS2 in the new National Curriculum.
